for appreciation…

May 16, 2007In our PSTL class, one group taught us about the art of henna tattoo.“Staining the nails, skin and hair with henna is the favorite way of enhancing beauty amongst women in the

Middle East. It is used as both a hair treatment as well as a dye to make decorative designs on the skin. Henna cosmetics are made from the Egyptian evergreen plant, Lawsonia inermis, whose shoots and leaves yield an extract which is mixed with catechu, an astringent substance obtained from various trees and shrubs. Arabians crush dried berries from this plant to obtain a red powder.Black henna (saumer) is reserved for the soles of the feet and hands while red henna is used for the tips of the fingers and toes. It involves the additional use of another paste made from powdered lime (nura) and powdered crystal amoniac (shanadah). The orange markings then turn black and then remain on the skin for about twenty or thirty days. Both red and black henna can commonly be purchased from international grocery stores.” Reference: http://www.bdancer.com/med-guide/suppl/henna.htmlAs their evaluation, they asked us to do henna tattoo, one representative for each group and then there will be a parade for the presentation. I was surprised when two of my male classmates choose my name as their design. I was so delighted of what they did so I took pictures of those. Here it is: mikosci-130.jpg Kaiser- He was the representative of their all-men group. This is his back. All my classmates where shouting when he ramped and it made me feel appreciated. I don’t know what that was for but I hope it was not just for laughs. He is the Johnny Bravo of the class… mikosci-131.jpgMicheal- He is a member of Kaiser’s group. He just showed his hand to me and there was even a punch line comparing himself to Kaiser. I can’t recall it but I believe it made me smile. He never fails to great me good morning.

These two guys are always calling me and they will ask me to smile. lol. They give life to the class. If they weren’t our classmates, maybe our block will be boring (as what my other classmates said). That simple thing made me feel appreciated. I just want you to know that you are very much appreciated..=D Thanks Guys…=D
