Pinoy Twilight: Takipsilim
After the Twilight movie craze, who would have thought that the Philippines would make a local version of Twilight?
Well… not me!
ABS-CBN already bought the copyright for a local re-make of the famous novel Twilight by Stephenie Meyer with a tentative title of “Takipsilim” staring Rayver Cruz as Edward Cullen and Shaina Magdayao as Isabella Swan. The series will be directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.

There are a lot of blogs I’ve read about THE “Pinoy Twilight” as they would call it and so here are some of my sentiments about it:
• The first thing that I said when I heard the fuzz is like… “What the f*ck?!” I mean, could somebody slap me? harharhar…
• I have seen some posters in the web… I don’t know if that is the official… Nevertheless, I took it negatively because it is SOOOOO COPYCAT… tsk tsk! Just look for the difference.. hahaha!
• I don’t know if how are they going to make the scenes possible knowing that everything in the book is very foreign as well as the descriptions and everything.
• The question IS… How are they going to make those sugar-coated punch lines in Filipino without making it sound so cheesy and all?
• This is not to criticize him but I think Rayver Cruz is NOT suitable to play the role of Edward. Unless they are going to do a major make-over. (I can’t think of anyone else.. tsk) For those who have read the book, you know what I mean.
• Shaina Magdayao is just “OK” to play the role of Bella.
• I am not satisfied with the movie, but I have trust with ABS-CBN in the production and all, I just wish they will not “edit” the story so much just to fit it to a Filipino setting
• I am not a fan; I just feel I am involved because I have read THE saga.
• I hate THE title. Grrr…
• Who will play the other vampires? or even the wolves? hmmmm… think think think (I bet stars from PBB will be in. harhar)
• Who will sing the OST? Where will Edward’s meadow be???
• Will all the negative comments from all sorts of people, I hope ABS-CBN will give justice to the book. PLEASE! (I know Cathy Garcia-Molina will do a great job with all her blockbuster movies done… :])
• I wish the visual effects will not be so animated that it will look “really” fake.
With all the re-makes… I don’t know what else to comment…
With all the negative comments and those anti-Pinoy Twilights…

Do we really have to have our own version of those foreign stuffs? hmmmm…
I still go for the ORIGINAL…

Hello? THE MOVIE WASN’T GOOD TO BEGIN WITH! Twilight fans, don’t act as if the movie is the best movie of all time! It was poorly funded, poorly shot and the cast is just horrible! The script isn’t that good either! So if there’s a Pinoy version coming up, SORRY but ABS-CBN has the money to buy the rights and it’s up to you if you’ll watch or not.
Namurder na ng Summit (whatever Film production that is) ang novel so give ABS-CBN a chance to murder it more. *evil laugh*

I was shocked to see that raver is going to play as Edward. I dont know if he is suitable, but, we will see that for sure later on.
As for shaina,sure, she can be bella! I think there is potential….
I am just worried about the “special effects” of this series. If its crappy, im sure it will ruin the whole show. I hope their special effects wont look like special effects… but sort of real stuff….
and lastly, i hope they wont change their story… you know ABS-CBN and other channels, they change the story and add more crappy “spice.” They change to “what they want to happen”
ohh well, we have nothing to do but support the series. It will be better

I totally disagree with this whole”takipsilim” idea. its the cheapest idea ever.hello?the movie wasn’t so good in the hands of summit(a famous an rich producing company) and now in abs-cbn(a local company)?gods must be crazy!!no offense to the abs fans(that includes me). i just dont think that abs has the capability and enough cinematic effects for such project.

Hahahaha, man i seriously don’t get why people get so upset when they hear that a movie is going to be made about a book. I love twilight and yes the books are ALWAYS GOING TO BE BETTER THAN THE MOVIES!!! this is a known fact so why doesn’t everyone stop bitching and just see what happens. If you don’t want to see teh pinoy version that will probably suck then don’t watch it!!! god it’s that simple. Besides there are some people out there that might like to see it. And there have been tons of movie adaptions of american films that have turned intop pinoy films and they were actually pretty good.
on another note i do agree that the actor they chose for the filipino edward was laugh worthy. He looks like a little boy and he will never pull it off. He is not PALE ENOUGH!!! lol, it would wierd if the wolves and the vampires are all the same skin color!! lol, i’m not racist or anything because i do think their bella choice is a good one. We’ll see.
My prediction is their going to change a lot of the story to fit a filipino version and it’ll probably suck but once again quit bitching and just don’t watch it. Nuff’ said.

I don’t read the book., I haven’t watched the film., I’m not saying that the remake will be a disaster., I’m not kapuso neither kapamilya., I’m a PROUD FILIPINO.,
I read all of your comments., and I agreed with all of you., I hated the remake in some ways., and I also liked it in the other way.,
I know that Filipinos are very talented so I don’t have any doubts why the filming staff of the original twilight gave the rights to the filipinos., I believe in the capacity of the unofficial cast, because they won’t stay in this business (show business) if they don’t have the staying power, or the should I say the TALENT rather.,
We can prove to the foreigners that we are talented enough to be as good as them., but not by getting their ideas., not by let’s say it, copying ideas., remaking., hello! We have talents! GREAT TALENTS! We can make better stories than that of twilight! So why remaking it? We can be better in our own and original ways.,
One more thing., why are we comparing ourselves to foreigners? Each individual is unique, everyone has their standards of what is good or not., remember: as long as we did our best, as long as we didn’t hurt others, as long as we stay humble and faithful, WE ARE GOING TO BE THE BEST., we cannot please everybody.!
It’s up to us if we will support something we like or we hate.,

Ans why is it automatically labeled as baduy or gaya-gaya when Filipinos produced remakes?
I don’t hear anyone accusing the US of being gaya-gaya for doing a Betty La Fea remake.

Sa bagay, Twilight fans nga ang nag-react e, ano ba ang aasahan sa kanila.. It’s not like matalino ang usual readers ng Twilight.
i really love Twilight. this movie is super great that we watched it several times with some of my friends. ~
